We will announce the successful projects selected for wider adoption and spread through this Evidence into Practice call in September 2024, and we’ll promote opportunities for local partner organisations to adopt the selected innovations in our newsletter. What is Evidence into Practice 2024?

Following on from the success of our previous Evidence into Practice calls, Health Innovation West of England is once again offering comprehensive support to spread evidenced-based innovations that improve the health of people in the West of England.

Previous projects supported by the Evidence into Practice programme include the award-winning PReCePT, PERIPrem, SHarED and PreciSSIon. This year Health Innovation West of England is keen to broaden the range of projects supported beyond the NHS to the VCSE sector and local authorities to help us collectively tackle some of the wider social determinants of health.

Watch this short video of Dr Rebecca Thorpe, project lead for SHarED (Supporting High impact users in Emergency Departments), talking about her experience of being selected for the Evidence into Practice call in 2019 and the support she received from us to spread SHarED across the West of England.

Who did we invite to apply?

This year’s Evidence into Practice call was open to anyone in the West of England working to improve the health and wellbeing of people in their community.

We are prioritising innovations that are currently being delivered to a significant number of people and that indicate a likelihood of scalable impact.

We welcomed applications from:

  • Teams delivering innovative work on the ground, including organisations within the following sectors: education, local authorities, voluntary, community, social enterprise and faith (VCSEF), the NHS and adult social care.
  • People who have developed innovations that have some evidence of health benefits when delivered in the West of England.
