“Are you an NHS staff member with an innovative idea to improve patient care? Do you want to join a community of like-minded individuals and develop your skills? If yes, then you should apply to the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme!“
Alex Leach, Deputy Director of Programmes

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) is the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University and part of the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC). The programme is free and open to all NHS staff, including nurses, pharmacists, doctors, dentists, and more. It provides learning, opportunities, and experiences through which entrepreneurs develop the commercial skills and knowledge to accelerate their innovations that will help transform patient care.

The programme offers:

  • A series of CPD accredited educational events called Pit Stops, which can be attended either in person or virtually. These events cover topics such as how to build a start-up or develop an intrapreneurial idea, how to pitch your idea, communications, funding, and more.
  • Mentoring from industry experts and successful entrepreneurs who can guide you through the challenges and opportunities of innovation.
  • Bespoke commercial education and learning, tailored to your needs and goals.
  • Customer matching, resources, and development tools to help you validate your idea and find potential partners and customers.
  • Access to a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for innovation and can support you along the way.

The CEP is more than just a programme, it is a space where NHS staff can develop their innovation or idea without having to leave the health service.  One of the CEP alumni, Rachael Grimaldi, an Anaesthetic Registrar and co-founder and Chief Executive at CardMedic, said: “The programme has been invaluable in helping CardMedic become what it is today. We have been able to build an amazing network, create opportunities through strategic partnerships, build confidence with presenting, and had the opportunity to get in front of some really amazing people. There’s nothing quite like the scale of this programme, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunities it has created.”

We encourage anyone working in the NHS with a great idea, at any stage of development, to apply for this exceptional opportunity. Could this be you or someone you know? Applications are currently open and will close on 29 October 2023.
